A prop item like the one featured in the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode “The Passenger”. The item is a data reader appearing in the episode in the science lab of “Deep Space Nine” for use by “Jadzia Dax” (Terry Farrell) when she discovered that an impressive alien criminal was mapping out the human mind in an effort to transfer his consciousness. The item is made from a piece of acrylic painted on the top with a faux button panel affixed and a reader device that features an electric element. When a thin item is fitted in to the slot on top an internally mounted switch is activated allowing a green and a red light on the exterior to flash in sequence and is powered by an internally mounted A23 sized 12.0volt battery (not included). The item is painted metallic silver and gold with multiple raised accents and measures approx. 4.25 X 2.5 X 1.25 inches. It may have appeared differently in other episodes as screen captures indicate a variation in its appearance.
