STAR TREK I: “BETELGEUSIAN COSTUME”

Record summary

A costume created for Star Trek feature films to represent a ‘Betelgeusian’. The costume is a lavish, shiny gold colored robe with long kimono style sleeves, and two sets of jewelry necklaces. The necklaces are made from what appears to be a light molded metal, painted to appear varying shades of metal, and are laced together by black nylon. They represent a pair of large felines with elongated paws that are meant to be mounted on the shoulders, a set of heraldic birds, and a cat-like face medallion, all oversized and seemingly meant to be sewn onto a black tabard that is no longer present. The robe features snaps and buttons for the tabard. Two sets of the jewelry are present, one is intact. The costume also comes with three rubber masks painted to appear as alien flesh in hues of blue and red. One mask is full and ready for display, the other two have been flattened and pressed during their time in storage, though all three are not in perfect condition, one maintains its aesthetic quality.
