Dr. McCoy’s sickbay anabolic protoplaser medical tool (for massive injuries) from Star Trek

(NBC-TV, 1966-69) Handheld medical tool, a “portable wound healer” constructed of blackpainted wood with machine metal tip and sides. Known as an Anabolic Protoplaser tool, this particular example with the cylindrical head was intended to be used for massive injuries. This protoplaser was originally painted red, but was later painted black for use in Star Trek: The Motion Picture, in which configuration it now remains. Originally acquired from Dick Rubin, a veteran Hollywood property master who worked on Star Trek: The Motion Picture.
