Record summary
A lot of props featured in the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode “Waltz” and a set of concept drawings developed for the episode. The props are a set of “Quark’s” dabo chips, four triangular acrylic pieces with inset molded resin ‘coins’ featuring the smiling face of “Quark” (Armin Shimerman) and inscribed with his name in English as well as featuring an inscription in Ferengi. The chips are colored in translucent yellow, red, green, and blue; the inset coins are metallic silver. The lot also contains the polished metal arm brace made for wear by “Captain Sisko” (Avery Brooks) in the episode following an injury related to the destruction of the “U.S.S. Honshu”. The brace is a metal framework made to fit around the arm, keeping it at a ninety degree right angle and immobile, bereft of fabric as it appeared in the episode, but sturdy. It features a hinged forearm brace with screws to keep it closed, and is padded with black colored adhesive fabric for comfort of wear. It measures approx. 14.75 X 9.75 X 5.25 inches. The concept drawings are a set of photocopies located recently with a Post-It inscribed ‘Season 6 #535 Waltz’. They consist of a drawing of the emergency transponder device featured in the episode with loads of written details and arrows point to various featured on the item, a rendering of ‘new dabo chips from 535?’ featuring several possible makes in the drawings, some of which feature photocopy detail of the inset ‘coin’, a black and white copy that shows the items ‘colored’, a rendering of the data chip removal feature on the emergency transponder and another possible dabo chip, a drawing of ‘Federation cuffs’ like ones recently auctioned that found use in multiple episodes, and five renderings of possible designs for the arm brace in the episode, several of which are quite different than the final version. In all, ten black and white photocopied drawings are present, they were located as photocopies and depict minimal creasing and tearing due to time and storage conditions. They are printed on white 11 X 17 inch paper.
