Betelgeusean ambassador’s robe from Star Trek: The Motion Picture

(Paramount, 1979) This large colorful ambassador’s robe is made of a fabric personally selected by Cecil B. DeMille in 1939, and then lost in storage on the Paramount lot until found by costume designer, Robert Fletcher, who was assigned to garb the many aliens in the production, as well as to design the new Starfleet uniforms. The ambassador’s robe was originally made for someone who is 6’ 10” tall.
