(Paramount-TV, 1987-94) From the fourth season episode <em>“Brothers”</em>;<em> </em>when Dr. Soong accidently implants a chip in to the wrong brother, Lore (Brent Spiner) opens his right thumbnail, presses the button in the middle and the small LED lights begin to glow which activates the transporter in his ship, beaming him away. The thumb is made of an inner layer of fiberglass with a rubber “skin” layer which has line details and has been painted with the golden sheen shared by the brothers. The thumbnail can be lifted up, and the inner light is powered by a 9-volt battery which can be hidden in the palm when the thumb is worn. A great special-effects piece from the series.
