On a dark and stormy night, an elderly “Jake Sisko” (Tony Todd) responds to a knock at the door. It is a teenage girl named “Melanie” (Rachel Robinson) who has come to ask him why he stopped writing several years ago. Jake begins to recount the tale of how his father “Benjamin Sisko” (Avery Brooks) disappeared in a time displacement inversion and how he reappeared in exponentially increasing intervals, how Jake dedicated the rest of his life trying to save his father, and how every attempt he has thus made has failed. The item up for auction is “Melanie's” costume, an orange crinkle fabric dress with woven cape featuring openings for the arms, the same that she wore battling the thunderstorm to seek an audience with Jake Sisko. A costumer’s tag indicates wear by actress ‘Rachel Robinson’, the daughter of Deep Space Nine recurring cast member Andrew Robinson who portrays “Garak”.
