STAR TREK: DS9 "ALIEN GAMBLING DEVICE"

Record summary

This fun prop is the ‘alien gambling device' from the well-received Deep Space Nine episode “Rivals”. The conniving con artist “Martus Mazur” (Chris Sarandon) by chance comes into possession of this device that he soon discovers gives the possessor mysterious luck. After “Quark” (Armin Shimerman) turns down “Mazur’s” offer to purchase the device, “Mazur” establishes his own “Club Martus” that threatens to put “Quark” out of business. The device is an opaque spherical shell with detailed pink plastic attachments creating an intricate design over its entirety. Ten green LED lights are on the surface of the sphere that flashes intermittently at the press of a small button on the side. The internal mechanical components are powered by a standard 9V battery accessible by unscrewing the two halves of the sphere. Any battery power remaining is left over from taping the show. Measures approx. 4 inches diameter.
