STAR TREK: TNG “EXOCOMP ALTERED FOR USE IN STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE”

A prop item created for the beloved Star Trek: The Next Generation episode “Quality of Life”. The item is an “Exocomp”, an artificial life form created by an alien scientist to function as maintenance support on a large project. The units eventually became sentient due to their adaptive abilities and this was discovered by another sentient artificial life form, “Data” (Brent Spiner) of the “USS Enterprise-D”. The item is the Exocomp prop featured in the episode to depict an opened item allowing characters onscreen access to its internal workings. A removed item was featured in the front that was separated from the rest which has been distressed to a darker color. The Exocomp was painted metallic silver and altered for screen use as set dressing in various episodes of Star Trek: Enterprise like “Future Tense” where it appeared in the background while the “Enterprise NX-01” crew were investigating an alien ship. It is made of wood with multiple applications applied for detail. There are multiple LED lights and two switches however the electronics are untested. The secondary piece is made of resin and acrylic with metal components and electrical capability. The electronics however are untested. The half Exocomp measures approx. 16 x 13 ½ x 9 ½ inches.
