Record summary
A costume featured in the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode “Hippocratic Oath”; wherein “Dr. Bashir” (Alexander Siddig) tries to help a group of Jem’Hadar on free themselves of their dependence on ketracel white. This costume is for wear by veteran Star Trek stunt man and extra Michael bailous, it consists of a sleeveless, full-length, jumpsuit with the top half a black, spandex-like material, the bottom being neoprene over a gray fabric featuring a starburst pattern down the middle and stirrups for the feet. Also included is a vest of further neoprene under sections of black, lattice textured and wrinkled fabric separated into further sections by oversized black piping, a distressed jacket matching the lower-half of the jumpsuit, faux suede around the collar, fabric, an unattached pocket that is supposed to go on the right leg, a wide belt and bandolier featuring intricate rubber and molded foam accents that have started to dry out due to time and storage, multiple loose costume accents with rubber, resin, or metal components and some with Velcro placements. A sewn in tag reads ‘Michael Bailous, lot 9, size 44’ with tags for two other actors sewn in as well. A set of concept drawings presented as Original and duplicated copy art work created for the episode "Hippocratic Oath" of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. When "Dr. Bashir" (Alexander Siddig) and "Chief O'Brien" (Colm Meaney) come across a group of rogue Jem'Hadar soldiers trying to release their addition to the drug ketricel white, the doctor is forced to help them despite being held hostage by them. The drawings are a variety of workmanship, some appear to be thumbnail sketches with inked in details and borders for photocopy (as the blue pencil marking are not supposed to show up on the duplicates), and painted alterations for color. One set is what appears to be an original of the plasma device featured in the episode composed of both Jem'Hadar and Federation technology, with two finalized photocopies, and one work copy. Second, a work copy of a 'molecular synthesizer' inked and one marker painted for color. A set of Jem'Hadar 'standards' (graphics for use on banners, flags, display screens, patches, etc.), as a work print and a finished copy; an inked thumbnail work print of a Jem'Hadar uniform with details and terminology for all of the intricate accoutrements associated to the uniform tops, a second one is marker painted. Another work print and an ink print indicate the concept of a Jem'Hadar forearm phaser or tricorder. Three more sketches show the same but from differing viewpoints and with different technology, one is marker painted. Another presents 'Tricorder Giblets', and finally one indicates the concept for a new "USS Defiant" captain's chair head pad piece, humorously to say the least. All of the sketches are signed by 'John Eaves' or feature photocopied signatures, were located in a folder listed as '#475 Hippocratic Oath', and measure approx 17 X 11 inches on white paper.
