STAR TREK: DS9 “TEPLAN LARGE PROP MUSIC BOX” FROM “THE QUICKENING”

Record summary

This prop item was featured in the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode “The Quickening”; wherein “Dr. Bashir” (Alexander Siddig) and “Jadzia Dax” (Terry Farrell) find an entire planet of people suffering from a genetically-engineered virus called “The Blight” brought by the Jem’Hadar as punishment for defying the Dominion. This item is the alien music box that was playing in “Trevean’s (Michael Sarrazin) “clinic” that people whose “Blight” had “quickened”, or gone terminal, would go to for a quick death; a gray, resin cast rectangular box featuring a large hexagonal megaphone/speaker on one end, a studded cylinder bolted on in the middle that would create the music when it ran over a steel comb, a large rectangular piece of the “mechanism” with an additional semi-circular piece on top of it, and a matching gray tube that radiates out featuring a crank that, when turned, makes the studded cylinder turn. The item measures approx. 21 X 9.5 X 7 inches.
